I have been active as a gigging musician since I was a teenager. I grew up playing in the folk and bluegrass stew pot of Central VA, with local figures like Don Reno, Doc McCabe, and his sons Tom and Will, and my old friends the blues man Tom Tomcat Hailey, and Jimmy Robertson to inspire me. After leaving the area in the 80's I decided to get serious about my chosen instrument, and studied jazz, revisited my roots in piedmont blues, and just generally opened myself up to a lot of new stuff. I had the good fortune to know, hang and jam with some of the better folks in the Boulder area, and after we moved to Asheville (what a wonderful music scene that city has), it got even more "interesting".![]() |

Paul Dempsey 08/13/2012 :05:08 Chuck.. thanks for the listen. I appreciate the comments.. Keep in mind.. that recording was done in my project studio here with some real basic gear. (good mikes and pres though, the captures of the tracks are good and clean). No pro engineer has touched them. And no mastering has ever been attempted.. more or less raw live studio recordings. Most of the tunes were recorded live, with very few tracks or post. Josie.. some day.. I just need the bucks to get it properly mixed, mastered and printed. |

Chuck King 08/13/2012 :04:08 Hey Paul, I must say I really like Beeswing. It is a great song for Square dancing. The vocals on Three Chords & the Truth are not far enough out front. I will listen to the others and give you some feedback. My background is in Radio & Television. I worked as an Announcer, Program and Music Director in radio in Portsmouth. Worked Engineering in Television, Portsmouth, Norfolk, & Savannah, Ga. Good chatting with you tonight. Chuck King, Fayetteville,NC |
