Egg Tempera Paintings, and Prints of Egg Tempera's Most of my egg tempera's are completed on hand crafted true gesso panels. A time intensive process of making these panels on birch or other hardwoods is part of the production. Each panel consists of 8-10 layers of marble dust and rabbit hide glue gesso being applied by hand and finished to a fine smooth eggshell finish.
Most of the pigments I've used are sourced from mines and suppliers in Virginia. Some are hand ground from solid mineral sources.
The depth of the color in the originals is very hard to match in a print. But using 6 color printers has allowed me to come very close to the saturation of the originals.
