Technical
One of my strongest skill sets is the ability to take 2D drawings (or 3D), plans, blueprints and technical drawings, and turn them into photo-real 3D renderings and animations. This is a boon to customers who are trying sell or demonstrate technical aspects of a product not possible with conventional photography or video. I can cut-away the structure of an item and expose its inner workings in real time. Animate or render items too small to photograph or where a customer needs to pre-visualize issues that might come up in production.
Of course this gives me the ability to also deliver photo-realistic illustrations of product that doesn't exist, and also the ability to place it in context by photo-shopping into position or inserting it into pre-existing video footage.
Some of the images in this pages gallery are of a Leybold HVAC pump assembly. I 3D'd this assembly from 2 D paper drawings, and animated its operation cycle. The cycle consisted of taking industrial gas and running it through several stages of catalitic converters at various tempretures, which removed the toxic and heavy metals from the gas for re-cycling. Lightwave was the rendering-animation engine, and I used its particle system to get the temperature and gas motion effects. The various parts of the assembliage were modeled in FormZ. |
